For Patients: Your Stay
Your Psychiatrist will make the necessary arrangements for your admission to Fullarton Private Hospital. On arrival please report to the Receptionist, who will assist you with your admission. Our General Practitioner will conduct a physical examination within 48 hours of admission (unless otherwise specified).
Please bring all your current medication, which must be handed to the nursing staff. An account will be sent to you from the Pharmacy for discharge medication and any non Psychiatric medication not covered during your stay.
Visiting hours are between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. every day but need to be arranged at times which don’t conflict with the group programme or doctor’s appointments. Visitors are asked to report to the Nurses Station on arrival.
Day Program – For Inpatients at Fullarton Private Hospital.
The Day program includes specialist therapy modules such as Psychotherapy, introduction to CBT, relaxation, assertiveness training, anxiety management, discussion groups and a range of art and craft. For more information please speak to your Nurse.
For ongoing Group Program as Outpatients – Patients are educated re the programs available at Kahlyn Day Centre. Patients can be assessed (or referred by Psychiatrist) to Kahlyn Day Centre Programs.
In the event of a fire, an alarm will sound. Staff will direct proceeding during any fire alarm. Emergency Fire Exist doors are located in areas highlighted by the green and white exit lights. You must not open any fire doors. If evacuation is required please proceed to the car park at the back, which is the Assembly Area.
Fullarton Private Hospital is committed to good health for everyone therefore smoking is not permitted inside the hospital or within three metres of the hospital building. This includes all exit doors. A designated smoking area is available in the courtyard area in the garden.
Alcohol and Non-Prescribed Drugs
Alcohol and non-prescribed drugs must not be bought onto the premises or taken whilst you are an inpatient. The use of non-prescribed medication or alcohol whilst a patient may result in your discharge.
Patients are not to drive or park their motor vehicle at Fullarton Private Hospital whilst an inpatient.
A regular bus services runs to and from the City via Fullarton Road. Timetables are available from Reception.
A telephone, with an answering facility if you are out of your room, is available in all rooms.
A Public telephone is available for patient’s to make mobile and STD calls. Change may be obtained from Reception. Mobile phones are discouraged and can only be used with special permission. Mobiles phones with cameras are not allowed
Communal televisions are available in the patient lounges or individual televisions may be hired, at no expense to the patient. Newspapers are available in the patient’s lounge and a billiard table is situated in the upstairs lounge area. Games are available from the Day Centre on request.
Meals are served in the Dining Room at the following times:
Breakfast 8.00 am to 8.45 am
Morning tea 10.00 am to 10.30 am
Lunch 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm
Afternoon tea 3.00 pm to 3.30 pm
Dinner 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Supper 8.30 pm to 9.00 pm

Patients are responsible for managing their own personal laundry. Laundry and drying facilities are available between 7.00 am and 9.00 pm.
